Three Superb Ideas For Gold Coast Accommodation: Where To Stay In Australia’s Gold Coast

October 3rd, 2010 by , under Vacations. No Comments

This brief article examines some Gold Coast accommodation choices (Gold Coast Australia). This destination, which has a sunny and sub-tropical climate, is most famous for sixty kilometres of great surfing coastline, but there are also many other attractions for the tourist. For example there are six large theme parks, four sports teams competing at Australian national level (football, rugby league, basketball and ice hockey), and over forty golf courses. The scenery is good too! Many, many kilometres of canals and waterways, and the beautiful and wild mountain ranges and rain forests of the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Visitors to the hinterland area may wish to consider staying at the Ruffles Lodge in Willow Vale. This is about half-way between the beaches and the mountains. From here you can easily visit the Tamborine Mountain, Springbrook, and Lamington National Parks, but you are still just a twenty five minute drive from the beaches, shopping centres and nightlife of Surfers Paradise and Gold Coast. Convenient local wineries and vineyards also make an enjoyable excursion for guests.

It seems that everywhere in Gold Coast has its own golf facilities. The Ruffles Lodge is no exception. It has a practice golf area, and is near (less than thirty minutes by car) to sixteen golf courses. Ruffles Lodge and Spa is in fact the only five star lodge and spa in the Gold Coast. Vintage wines (and non-vintage ones too) are served in the fine restaurant.

Some history now. In 1925 Brisbane hotel owner Jim Cavill founded the Surfers Paradise Hotel in Elston, Queensland. Within eight years the name of the town had changed to Surfers Paradise, and over the next forty years the resort and town grew around that original hotel. Surfers Paradise is now the name you think of first when you think of Australia’s Gold Coast. The busy shopping area of Cavill Avenue is named after Jim Cavill.

A good place for families in the famous Surfers Paradise resort would be the Paradise Centre Apartments. The accommodation here is offered in two thirty storey towers, built directly over the Centro Shopping Centre. There is a direct pedestrian walkway from the complex to Surfers Paradise Beach. There are one, two and three bedroom apartments all with ocean views and balconies.

The apartments all have cable TV, and laundry and kitchen facilities. Nearby golf courses will suit the golf fans, while within the complex itself there is a putting green, two swimming pools and tennis courts. For younger children there is a paddling pool. For their parents there is a sauna, a spa and a sun-deck.

Other visitors may want something a bit quieter, and with six hundred kilometres of waterway in the Gold Coast, you can imagine that waterfront living is an good option. A quiet location to stay can be found in the 21 apartment Surfers Del Rey Riverfront Apartments.

Residents of these apartments have a view from their private balcony of either the river, the pool, or the courtyard (a tropical garden). The two bedroom apartments sleep up to five people. There are also one bedroom apartments. A short walk in one direction will take you to the beach. A similar distance in another direction for shopping and nightlife: cafes, restaurants and clubs.

The Australian Gold Coast is certainly one of the earth’s most fantastic tourist destinations and is indeed filled with sight-seeing possibilities for all age ranges.
