One of the most popular regions in and around the Sunshine Coast is the beautiful city of Maroochydore . A region that was very interestingly originally founded by an escape convict in the 1800′s it has become one of the prime tourist destinations on the coast.
After the initial discovery of this coastline town, it was used as a settlement and then a tourist destination but really did not become very well known by travelers until the 1960′s. Even though it is an area with a rich history it has worked to stay modern and continues to add new hotels and attractions to its venue each year.

Travel from Melbourne is just about 2 hours to the Sunshine Coast airport. From Sydney it is only about a 1 hour flight to the Sunshine Coast and about a 45 minute flight from Brisbane . Just a short drive from the airport is where you will find this wonderful region. Several flights are offered from Jetstar and Virgin Blue daily making this a very convenient location to travel in and out of.
