Though it is still very cheap to travel here, prices are on the rise big time in the southern regions. Tourism is taking over and all the luxury resorts are rolling in, thus driving the prices up! So it's a good idea to start up north in the cultural heart of Thailand (which is much less expensive), then make your way down south to relax on the beaches, party all night, and blow the rest of your cash!
