Thailand Gap Year – A Great Choice!

The best time for a Thailand gap year is… always. Although Thailand is not so big it has different temperatures. For example the monsoon, the wet season in the east of Thailand is different than the monsoon season on the island on the west of Thailand. So there is always a way to avoid bad weather.

There are two Peek seasons in Thailand. Christmas season and summer holiday season. The flights and accommodation is more expensive then. The main festival in Thailand is the Sonkran festival so if you plan your Thailand gap year make sure you are there in April for this water festival.

The main attractions and must sees during your Thailand gap year are places in The north like Chiang Rai or as they call it the Golden triangle, Chiang Mai where you can do great trekking, Bangkok for shopping and to see the temples or as the Thai call it: Wats, then don’t forget we have the amazing Koh Phi Phi from the movie the beach and on the east coast of Thailand we have Koh Tao which is great for diving.

Thailand is one of the favorite countries in Asia and has many Thailand gap year travelers. The capital city of Thailand is Bangkok now. Bangkok is very divers and there is a big difference in Poor and Rich people, If you are in Bangkok it is worth it to take a boat ride over the Chao Praya. Here you will see the wooden shack with children playing and jumping in the water from their little house with 10 meters next to that the Hilton Hotel with expensive cars and luxury spa’s.

Thailand offers many sports opportunities, so if you like an Active Thailand gap year Thailand is the place to be. As mentioned you can do trekking in the North of Thailand and on the islands you can do diving, load’s of diving. If you like rock climbing you can go to Krabi and there are all over Thailand options to go canoeing. Very popular is Muay Thai, This is the national Martial Arts of Thailand, there are opportunities to train with the locals.

Thailand is not an expensive country to travel in. The infrastructure is great and there are many bus and train companies, but also flights within Thailand are not expensive. So traveling during your Thailand gap year is not expensive and very easy. There are many travel agents in the tourist places, but there are also companies who can help you with this before you even go to Thailand. The food, drinks and accommodation in Thailand is also not expensive. The only thing that is going to cost you re the party nights! And even they are cheap!

Countries next to Thailand are Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Burma and Malaysia. During your onward travel from your Thailand Gap year you will meet a lot of travelers along the way and because they all like to tell you where they have been, you can decide where you want to go next on route.

Thailand is cheap, much cheaper than anywhere in Europe. For a nice dinner and a soft drink you pay 3 pounds and not a penny more! The thing that can make your Thailand gap year expensive is if you party every night. But it will still be much cheaper than back home!

Are you looking for the perfect gap year opportunity? Well then remember to look no further than a Thailand Gap Year with Xtreme Gap.

Thailand is for sure a great place to holiday! Though it is still very cheap to travel here, prices are on the rise big time in the southern regions. Tourism is taking over and all the luxury resorts are rolling in, thus driving the prices up! So it’s a good idea to start up north in the cultural heart of Thailand (which is much less expensive), then make your way down south to relax on the beaches, party all night, and blow the rest of your cash!
