How To Choose The Best Camping Water Filter

March 26th, 2011 by , under Travel and Leisure. No Comments

Hiking is a very popular outdoor activity amongst city dwellers. It is a great way of relieving the stress of living in the city by enjoying nature. When camping, everybody is required to go back to the basics. And when they say basic, they mean just the essentials. No televisions, no toilets, campfire for heat and cooking food, and river water for drinking. Most campers do not go primitive all the way because of sanitation issues. Fortunately, compact, lightweight, and efficient camping gears are out in the market. Amongst them is the camping water filter.

Water is crucial to man’s survival. Every hiker of camper is expected to at least have a water bottle full before heading out into the wilderness. Although Mother Nature never fails to provide, untouched natural waters can still be dangerous to one’s health, both short and long term. Dirt and parasites living in water like Giardia and Crystosporidium are commonly seen in many different natural water resources.

With a camping water filter, a person will be rest assured that he does not run out of clean water to drink as long as there is a water resource. Boiling water and carrying several liters of it will not be a problem anymore. Apart from that, it is also compact and light so a person will not have to worry about extra baggage weight. Just make sure that the water filter is easy to clean and its filters are easy to replace. Also, it is best to find water filters that do not require replacement parts. There are a huge range of brands from which to select from and prices range from $70 to several hundred dollars. It may be costly but, definitely, a potential life saver.

Before purchasing, a few internet researches will also help to inform first time buyers. Look for user reviews of the chosen camping water filter and make sure you understand and realize its advantage and disadvantages.

Nature can be ruthless at times, so when you are planning to go out there make sure that you are prepared. Make sure that you have all the equipment to survive just in case.

Havana: Private Homes

February 21st, 2011 by , under Travel and Leisure. No Comments

We all know these are difficult days and there is no much money left for holidays and leisure in our pockets. So we have to find cheap alternatives – either that or stay at home and don’t go any where. If you are thinking of going for Cuba Holidays then I am going to give you a hint on how to cut down on the cost.

Hotels in Cuba as I mentioned before are not very cheap although there is a number of options for as little as $14.00 per person per night. The problem is that everybody traveling on a budget want to stay in these very few hotels so to find accommodation in cheap hotels in places like Havana for instance is extremely difficult. There is an article listing the cheapest hotels in Havana. Please follow the link http://www.qassia.com/the-cheapest-hotels-in-havana for more info on cheap hotels.

If you are traveling to Cuba on a tight budget then why not to take advantage of the excellent prices that Casas Particulares in Cuba offer. Casas Particulares is the term used locally for Private Rentals in Cuba. These properties have a special license from the government which allows them to accommodate Tourist.

As you probably know Cuba is a communist country with very strict regulations when it comes to private business. The government has imposed a series of limitations to the landlords that some find a bit annoying.

Tourists are allowed in Casas Particulares as long as they share the house with the Cuban family. There are limitations in terms of how many rooms a landlord can rent and how many passengers on each room.

So what I am trying to say is that staying in Casas Particulares in Cuba is a good idea for cutting down the cost of your holidays to Cuba but is not for everybody. This type of accommodation is suitable for people that have no problem sharing a house with a Cuban family.

You might be able to find few apartments in Havana whose landlords will be willing to rent out the whole place for yourself. In this case you will not have to share with a Cuban family although I strongly recommend doing so. I am not going to list the name of this houses or apartments in Havana in this article for obvious reasons. I will list though few websites that are devoted to promote private accommodation in Cuba and throw their webmasters or reservation consultants you can find the answer to your particular queries.

Before booking your Cuban holidays. Visit www.quest2cuba.co.uk by Jose Mauricio Maurette for more information on the best Havana hotels.
