Why you should holiday in Jamaica

Article by Karen Thompson

If you are planning a holiday in Jamaica, you can consider a trip to Jamaica. The island’s reputation as a world-famous holiday destination is well-established and not without reason. From soothing your self on the beach to climbing towering mountains, from listening to the rhythmic sounds of reggae to savouring its rich cuisine, from enjoying the refreshing Caribbean Seato discovering its historic and cultural sites, there is much that you can do on the island. If this doesn’t convince you, consider the following factors.

Things to do in Jamaica: If you simply want to let go and relax, while away the hours on a beach or lounge on the porch in your private Jamaica villas, cottages or apartments taking in the scenic views. If you are looking for something more active, discover the beaches at Negril and be mesmerized by the sunsets in the evenings. Then travel along the coast to Montego Bay and opt for a city tour that takes you through historic sites, city center boasting duty free shops, and round of the day enjoying the views from Richmond Hill. Visit Ocho Rios and climb up the steps of the scintillating Dunn’s River Falls, and spend some fun-filled hours in the Dolphins Cove where apart from swimming with the dolphins, you can actually swim, feed and pet sharks. For some tranquil moments, head to Port Antonio, home to the misty Blue Mountains. Hike to the peak and appreciate the awe-inspiring views from there. Discover the graceful hills of Mandeville and the pristine regions along the south coast. Your trip cannot be complete without a visit to Kingston, the cultural and historical center of the island. Also, if you are a golf enthusiast, Jamaica offers more golf courses than any other island in the Caribbean.

Beaches: Jamaica is synonymous beaches. You can find a quite corner on a secluded beach or try out the ones that are teeming with tourists. Negril is known for its beaches, notably the Seven Miles Beach that has consistently been voted as amongst the best in the world. Then there are rentals such as the Silver Sands villas, a secure community of villas and cottages on the north coast of the island that have their own stretch of pristine, private beach.

Weather: Jamaica enjoys warm, tropical climate through out the year with average temperatures ranging between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and slightly lower at the mountains. The coldest month is February, but it is nothing like the cold you would experience back home, say in the United States. Unless you are in the mountain region, you can go about in your summer clothes.

Accommodation: Jamaica offers a host of accommodation options including hotels, all-inclusive resorts and Jamaica rentals. All of them have their advantages but if you are traveling with your family or friends, you would do well to consider Jamaica rental homes as 965_1-4C-TBT-bedroom_view.jpg they are part hotel and part home and effectively combine the best of services and luxuries of a hotel with the privacy, space, comfort and freedom of a home. They all have well-equipped kitchens to prepare meals (the services of a housekeeping staff and cook are also usually included in the package) and often BBQ, so you can entertain friends and guests. If you or an extended stay, you can invite your friends and family to stay with you at no or minimal extra costs.
