Rental Guide: Car Rental In Thousand Oaks California
December 8th, 2008 by Sibusiso M. Maseko, under Vacations. No Comments
One of the great things about California is the climate with tons of sun and fantastic beaches which makes it a very popular destination with tourists. Although its a wonderful state to travel around, you really do need to have a car unlike living in New York for example, where it is easier to get around on foot.
So if you want the convenience of seeing the sights when you want to then a rental car will definitely be necessary. Here are some quick tips and reminders when it comes to California car rental.
If it is your first time in California, then perhaps a friend or relation might be able to show you around but the most likely scenario is you will need the services of a good Californian car rental agency to get you up and running. The first thing you will need to do is do a little research on what Californian car rental company you want to use.
If your main requirement is that the California car rental cost fits in your budget then perhaps your vacation representative will be able to assist your needs. At first for many newcomers to California, the quantity of car rental companies might be overwhelming and this is quite a common reaction. This is why some checking and asking someone local is a good idea. Apart from knowing what California car rental agencies are actually out there, you even get to broaden your knowledge about travel prerequisites such as this one.
Try to map out the places, beaches, amusement parks or wherever it is that you want to go to, way before you actually embark on your trip. It really is much wiser if you plan things carefully and thoroughly way ahead of schedule because this way you get to free yourself from possible headaches and hassles that can be usually caused by not planning ahead. There are occasions when staying in one location, a city for example where they may be no requirement for California car rental, in which case local transit systems may be just what you need. Although California car rental will make difference to your freedom around the city but you really need to consider this aspect before you travel.
Plan things before you go and make sure your vacation runs smoothly, if you don’t plan, it probably won’t. If you know what it is you want to do, then the next step is to look at every option you have and choose one that best suits your individual needs. I am sure you will find an excellent California car rental company with just the right deal for your needs.
Most people have no idea what they actually want so it becomes difficult, but once you have overcome this small hurdle, the rest is easy. Ask as many people that you can for advice on your vacation, especially your travel agent. To be honest, my favorite source for research is the World Wide Web as it is absolutely full of interesting and useful information and has t be the best guide a traveler can have.
Nature Favored Marin County
October 16th, 2008 by Jason Hardcastle, under Vacations. No Comments
Has Marin County been blessed by Mother-Nature? Yes, I believe it has. Marin County of Northern California is formed geographically as a large peninsula which faces southward. It is bordered by the world renowned wine country of Napa and Sonoma Counties on its northern side, the blue Pacific Ocean and its rocky coast on its west, the regal Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay on its south and the misty San Pablo Bay on the east. Yes, Marin County has indeed been blessed by Mother-Nature.
Due to the fact that Marin County is surrounded by two large and influential bodies of water and because of heavy winter precipitation, its winters are somewhat warmer than they are in its neighboring counties. For those same reasons, however, Marin County is also blessed with cool weather during the summer and spring with literally no heat waves, particularly along its coast. According to the Census Bureau of the United States, Marin County has a total area of 828 square miles; 520 square miles of it is dry land while 308 square miles of it water.
Topographically, Marin County displays a remarkable landscape of lush and sprawling pasturelands, tidal flats along its coastline and the towering Mount Tamalpais, the county’s tallest mountain reaching a height of 2,600 feet.
Marin County has also been blessed (or cursed) by the ever threatening infamous San Andreas earthquake fault that runs right through it and is in an unyielding effort ripping the Tomales Peninsula away from its mainland bit by endless bit.
Just as the very volatile and unpredictable San Andreas earthquake fault is constantly threatening Marin County’s stability, it has over the course of hundreds of decades shaped the County into the assortment of rolling hills, flat land masses, high mountains and ocean front boulders that it displays today. In addition, the never ending activities of the San Andreas earthquake fault have through the ages deposited a wide variety of soils each of which is fertile and enriched with nutrients.
As a way of thanking nature for its favors, Marin County has created sanctuaries to protect and preserve that which is vulnerable in nature.
- It has been estimated that more than 1,000 species of plants and animals are saved from harm and extinction at Point Reyes National Seashore which is nested between the rocky shores of the Pacific Ocean, the lush grassy flatlands, the rolling hills and the tree-rich forests.
- Well over 1,000 genus of plants and animals are protected in the magnificent surroundings of Point Reyes National Seashore which is set amidst the Pacific Ocean, rocky beaches, sprawling grasslands, gently sloping hills and thickly wooded forests.
- The Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) was established in 1972 and with its 75,398 acres spanning over a couple of counties is one of the world’s largest national parks located within an urban setting as well as one of the largest coastal preserves in the United States. The GGNRA includes 59 miles of beaches and the awe inspiring Muir Woods National Monument of Marin County.
Interior Design: Vacation at Home With a Staycation
August 5th, 2008 by Vickie Daeley, under Vacations. No Comments
The new idea in Orange County, California, is to stay at home and enjoy our weather, our surroundings, our places to visit and our home.
Other than the South of France, perhaps, California has one of the few resort-like atmospheres in the world. We should count our blessings daily!
Instead of vacationing elsewhere this year, why not put the money into making your home into a luxurious getaway, complete with a spa-like atmosphere?
The hassle of flying now or even driving with the high prices of gas makes staying at home an even better option. Consider an elegant evening in, catered by one of the excellent caterers available in Orange County. Or treat yourself, in home, to a massage or facial — these experts are only a phone call away. And don’t forget to check out your local theaters, concerts, plays and even the local library. Spending your vacation at home is a possibility that should definitely be considered!
Instead of rushing around, trying to see everything possible in your precious one or two weeks of vacation, why not just stay home? Enjoy your relationships … your family, your friends. Take your time, and slow down a bit.
Children, friends and family members will also enjoy that “escape” atmosphere of your newly designed retreat. Frankly, they will probably consider asking your advice on how to create one of their own.
Vacations can wear you out, and by the time you are back to work, you need another. Returning to work tired turns out to be not a vacation at all.
Why not check out the service of a professional interior designer for some terrific creative ideas? What would it be like to walk into your bath in the morning to find a resort-style spa instead of the boring tile, tired towels and tiny shower? And what if your living room were full of eclectic furnishings that invite you to relax or entertain at a whim?
So before, making your vacation plans, give some thought to staying home for vacation. Plan your vacation at home … who would you like to see? What would you like to do?
Avila Beach Your Next Vacation
August 2nd, 2008 by Maria Russo, under Vacations. No Comments
Your Avila Beach vacation is on the beach of California and this mostly cloudless spot is just what shore lovers want to make their beach holidays totally complete. Yes, even a big treasury of amusement like California features small pockets containing amazing surprises adding beacons of joy to your California travels and Avila Beach is one such treasure which you should not miss.
The beach itself is approximately one half mile long in length and is sheltered in the San Luis Bay by Point San Luis which is inland and Fossil Point on the other side.
Due to its placement on the beach between Point San Luis and Fossil Point and because it faces a southerly direction, Avila beach enjoys the best climate on the central coast. This makes it the most warm of other beaches on this segment of the coast.
An Avila beach vacation would truly delight you in this matchless and beautiful town. There are many types of water sports open including of course surfing. Yes, other things do await besides laying on the beach all day in Avila Beach. Consider options other than your typical surfing, sunning, and fishing. There’ s the Marine Institute to learn about the indigenous marine life close to Avila Beach. Also the Avila Wine Trail offers a nice diversion from the ocean.
A fantastic thing to do is have a soak in one of a few resorts offering healing mineral waters. Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort is one such resort. This establishment which is nestled in the canyon between Avila Beach and Highway 101 taps into the water in a nearby hill-side which has been burbling forth hot, energizing waters ever since being discovered by oil men at the turn of the century. In case you want to lodge elsewhere, it is not necessary to be a guest at the Sycamore to savor a nice soak. A dozen or more hot tubs cleave to a steep wood studded hillside and can be accessed by paths and steps. Tubs can be leased by by those so choosing to for less than $50 for two for about a hour.
Avila Beach is a small laid-back hamlet surrounded by sloping hills with the added attraction of restaurants on the pier. You can even rent a place to stay with local landlords for your Avila beach vacation if a hotel doesn’t appeal to you.
The greater portion of the beach area is untouched but for a couple of blocks next to the beach that include a small residential area, some lodging, local stores and some newly built housing further away from the beach including a golf course.
Considering the environment, Avila beach is a wonderful weather area with temps of 60’s during the winter and while the summer give forth mid 70’s.
If you are looking for uncomplicated, wholesome beach vacation with local history, apple orchards spas and the like, then I am sure you will make Avila beach your next vacation.
Adventures In San Diego
July 20th, 2008 by Aazdak Alisimo, under Vacations. No Comments
San Diego is touted as a tremendous vacation destination. As a local, I can tell you it is. From family events to a vibrant nightlife, there is something for everyone and you’ll never get bored.
The World Famous San Diego Zoo can make the garish claim for a good reason. It is pretty amazing. Snuggled five minutes from downtown San Diego in the middle of Balboa Park, the zoo is a collection of beautiful space and animals.
Looking for something very different? How about the strangest amusement park you’ve probably ever seen. Yep, I am talking about Legoland in Carlsbad. As the name suggests, the park is primarily made out of Legos. A kid’s delight.
Like to play the slots? A good card game sound fun? Well, gambling is illegal in San Diego County. However, Indian reservations have no such restrictions and they surround San Diego. Sycuan’s is a popular one.
Love a good slab of meat? Prime rib specifically? Try Bully’s in Del Mar. This dingy bar/restaurant has been a famous gathering place for years for locals looking for prime rib that is simply mouth watering.
Like the idea of a Safari? The Wild Animal Park in San Diego has animals in open spaces. You can view them by hopping on a train that scoots through the park. Wild animals not in cages, oh my!
San Diego and beaches are two terms that go together. There are lots of little beaches. If you want a beach with a bit of a hippie vibe, Ocean Beach is the place. From head shops to beer bars, OB has a little something for everyone.
Looking for something really different? How about bull fighting? They don’t allow it in San Diego, but you can hop across the border and catch it in Tijuana. The bull ring is located on the coast to the west of the city.
From golfing to hang gliding to just about anything you can think of, San Diego has it. Drive, fly, take a train or walk to San Diego and you will be happy you did at the end of the trip. In fact, many people never actually go home.
