Incorporated as the 50th state in the United States of America on 21st August 1959, Hawaii is an archipelago of Hawaiian Islands lying in the central Pacific Ocean and is also known as the Aloha state. Hawaii is the southernmost part of the USA, lying 2500 miles from the mainland. They were known as the Sandwich Islands (named by the British explorer, Captain James Cook) and became U.S. territory in 1900. The Hawaii includes eight major islands – Kahoolawe, Lanai, Hawaii, Maui, Nihau, Oahu, Kauai and Molokai in addition to many islets. These islands were united under a ruler King Kamehameha the Great.

Brisbane Accommodation Guide For Pleasure & Business
April 1st, 2011 by Bailey Jamieson, under Vacations. No Comments
Brisbane being Australia’s third biggest city and the capital of Queensland, it’s more likely that a short Brisbane accommodation guide will turn into a thick book. There are all kinds of choices and options, from high end hotels and resorts down to cheap backpackers and motels. Not to mention a whole lot of other non-traditional accommodation choices for visitors like farmstays, caravans and apartments.
For those looking for cheap accommodations, there are a huge number of backpackers in the City. There are many bunched around the Roma St. Transit Centre, and also in the West End and South Bank. The other option is Fortitude Valley, but hat’s going to need an entire new section, so hold that thought.
Most of the Backpackers in the West End are pretty decent. They know exactly what visitors need, including a kitchen, swimming pool, bar and a game room, and wifi internet. Most also offer some kind of mass transportation or free shuttle to the Transit Centre and the pubs.
For those looking for something a little more luxurious, the large luxury hotels are in Southern Brisbane. The best ones are close to the Convention Centre, Kangaroo Point and the QPAC. Another place to find posh hotels suitable for business and leisure travelers is around the Airport.
Of course, the 5-star hotels and the sprawling resorts are at one end of the available options. The cheap backpackers and YHA are at the other end. In between, there’s a lot of space filled by motels and B&B’s and all kinds of lodging choices.
A little more out of the mainstream will take visitors to vacation homes and apartment rentals. Even more exotic, for those willing to venture a little further out of the City, would be farmstays and luxury cottages out in the open. The Greater Brisbane region includes lodging with magnificent views in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
As for Fortitude Valley, it is one of the most visitor-friendly areas in Brisbane, with a sizzling nightlife and lots of pubs and entertainment. There’s no shortage of cheap accommodations, and it is convenient yet far enough from the commercial bedlam of Brisbane. Fortitude Valley offers direct train access from and to the airport, and it is just two stops from the Roma St station
Lastly, there are caravans and campgrounds for those who want to experience the outdoors and the best of Queensland. Renting a caravan can be especially cheap and convenient. It not only takes care of accommodation, but also transport to all the attractions. To be noted that caravans, apartments, cabins and cottages are all more economical than a hotel room. This is especially true for extended stays and if the rent is shared by a group.
In summary, a Brisbane accommodation guide, not unlike the city itself, is a vast melting-pot with many choices. It all depends on the nature of the visit, and the budget. There are areas more suitable for business travelers and others better for pleasure seekers. From expensive 5-star hotels and sprawling resorts to bunk bed dorms, there’s something for everyone.
