Sharm El Sheikh Hotels: Explore The Bible Lands

March 16th, 2011 by , under Travel and Leisure. No Comments

Ever year Egypt’s holiday resorts grow in popularity as Europeans flock to the Red Sea coast to enjoy a host of excellent facilities. Although Sharm el Sheikh hotels are the most popular base for the Red Sea, resorts are popping up elsewhere including Hurghada, which is further south.

From their hotels in Sharm El Sheikh, holidaymakers can book a range of interesting excursions which range from mountain treks to visits to St. Katherine’s Monastery, the most visited historical site in the Sinai Peninsula. The Monastery was built near to the burning bush where God appeared to Moses with the Ten Commandments. The monastery dates back to 330AD but has changed dramatically over the centuries.

Israel and the Holy Land are close by for visitors willing to travel further afield on overnight excursions. As you can imagine, Israel contains a wealth of sites that are of biblical interest and a trip into Jesus’ home town of Nazareth often proves rather insightful. The area contains various sites that are significant to Jesus and other Biblical characters and holidaymakers can visit the Basilica of Annunciation, a church that stands on the same spot of the Virgin Mary’s home.

A trip to the Dead Sea is definitely worth a visit and holidaymakers can indulge themselves in a spot of floating and posing for photographs.

No visit into the Holy Land and Israel is complete without visiting Jerusalem and guests will find that they can book excursions here from their Sharm el Sheikh hotels. The historic city contains a number of sites that are significant to followers of the Abrahamic religions and in the west these include the dome of the rock and the al-Aqsa mosque, while the Christian, Jewish, Armenian and Muslim quarters all have their fair share of historic sites.
