Has it ever been your dream to drive yourself off-road in a 4WD in the African wilderness?

This is your chance to not only have the adventure of a lifetime by having fun but also improve on your driving skills at the same time on the rough African roads in Kenya. You get to drive through the Kenyan wild and see its wildlife and rest your aching muscles at luxurious tented camps. Your family can join in the fun where they will get to enjoy fun and games.

There is a program from Mombasa and from Nairobi each and the maximum number for each group are four drivers for each departure. Condition for participation is a valid driving license issued by your country of residence and sufficient driving experience.

8 Days from Mombasa

One gets to drive from Mombasa to Malindi and pass through the tropical countryside deep in the land of the Giriama. One will pass through little rivers, hills, farmlands as well as villages.

After passing Malindi town, your next destination is Tsavo East and the Yatta Plateau. As you journey through, you get to see wildlife over this vast plain of land which makes it an exciting drive. You also get to pass through bushy grasslands and huge open plains that alternate with semi-arid acacia scrubs and savanna.

From Tsavo East you then enter to Tsavo West which is characterised by open acacia woolands as well as outcrops, isolated hills, rivers as well as rocky ridges. On the side of Chylu hills, you are able to see the remains of volcanic activity with flows of lava and ash cones including the Shetani flow. When there is no cloud cover, one is able to see the Mt Kilimanjaro clearly fro Chyulu hills.

In this region you feel the magic that Africa brings and the mountains here are only about 500 years old. The hills have a variety of vegetation plus wildlife and the hills in this place are more or less undisturbed. Driving a car in this place is quite demanding as we have patches of montane forests that give way to rough grasslands and thicket.

8 Days from Nairobi Self Drive Tour

Your African driving experience will begin in Lewa in Laikipia. The Laikipia Ecosystem spans two million acres of unblemished wilderness in the North of Kenya. It has icy mountains, arid dry lands, savanna and forest. Through its varied environment roams an incredible diverse array of wildlife. Drivers enjoy total liberty in Laikipia.

From Laikipia you will drive to the semi arid land of the Shaba National Reserve in the Northern Frontier District. It is rugged and dry country, the Ewaso River and its tributaries display their green meanders of riverine forests. There are rugged hilly terrain, with great rocky kopjes and lots of springs supporting the abundant wildlife. Shaba National Reserve is enriched with extraordinary wildlife.

Meru National Park is the last area you drive into and this is a wild and beautiful area. It straddles the equator and bisected by thirteen rivers and some mountain streams.. Meru National park has a diverse scenery starting from the woodlands that are found on the slopes on Nyambeni on the North Eastern side of Mount Kenya to the open plains that have riverbanks that wander and dotted with doum palms.
