The adapters you mention that are best to use are called direct connect iPod car kits. These plug into the back of a factory radio just like the ones that come in some new cars. Most of them are made by Neo Car Audio www.neocaraudio.com

Most CD players do NOT have RCA inputs on the back of them. Some aftermarket CD players may have this option but RCA inputs are not on the back of any factory radios.</description>
