New York City Hotels and Shopping

New York City, or as it is commonly known, The Big Apple, is the most populous city in the United States of America. It is the center of the New York metropolitan area and a leading global city that puts forth a very powerful and worldwide influence on fashion, culture, entertainment as well as commerce and finance.

New York City is certainly a great place to live, and an even better place for a trip, whether simply for business or for pleasure. Whatever the case, if you ever find yourself in the city; there are numerous hotels which you can stay at.

In choosing a hotel in New York City, you need to figure out whether you want location, attraction or theme. If you choose location, then you will want to stay in the busiest intersection and the center of pop culture, which is along Broadway Times Square. This intersection is instantly recognizable location for being the setting of many kinds of movies, tv shows and even music videos.

For architecture aficionados, there are plenty of hotels in New York City that offer a variation in architecture and design. Notable mentions in Times Square include the Hotel 41 at Times Square, the Park Central New York Hotel and the famous five star hotel The Peninsula.

If choosing to stay in a hotel that is near a famous tourist attraction, places near the likes of Barney’s and Central Park is perfect. The Helmsley Park Lane Hotel and the Hotel Alexander are choice hotels near these areas.

If you want to stay at a theme hotel, there are plenty. You can choose from pet friendly hotels, self-catering hotels and airport hotels to name a few. Also, if you want to try staying at world famous brand name hotels, the city is chock full of Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham Worldwide and IHG hotels.

Shopping in New York City is a pretty big deal as well. If you are more of a high brow shopper, you will find the shops along Fifth and Madison Avenue to be perfect. The section of Fifth Avenue between 34th and 59th Street is one of the premiere shopping streets in the world. Stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman are found here. The famous jewelry store of Tiffany and Co. has its flagship store in these parts as well.

However, if shopping for designer clothes is not so much your thing, there are other places that sell great clothes. Soho and Greenwich Village are popular places to shop for vintage clothes, and even the Meatpacking District is getting in on all the action. These places feature small boutiques that sell anything from eyewear to accessories to dresses that are top quality and sold at pretty reasonable prices.
