When we refer to roller coasters, guests either worship the thrill and adventure that comes with the contraptions or are terrified by the notion of being belted into one. For those of you who are continually searching for the quickest or most tall roller coasters to fulfill your need for speed, Florida offers some rides that are undeniably worth your while.
If you are wild about roller coasters, then you need to visit Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Florida. There you will find Montu, an inverted roller coaster that is one of the tallest and longest in the world. Passengers travel at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour on the 4,000 foot track while doing seven inversions and feeling the force of 3.85 G’s on them. If you are still looking for more after the 3 minute ride on Montu, Busch Gardens also boasts SheiKra, the tallest roller coaster in any of the amusement parks in Florida. While riding in a floorless car, passengers climb to a height of 200 feet before being hurled over a 90 degree drop and then suspended above the ground for four long seconds. This is all before plunging to the ground at speeds up to 70 miles an hour, through an Immelmann loop, a second dive, and an underground tunnel.
These roller coasters are not for the faint of heart. If your travels take you to Orlando and Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure, you are afforded the opportunity to ride a few great roller coasters. It only takes The Incredible Hulk two seconds to blast riders to a speed of 40 miles per hour. In addition to the loops and dives there are two subterranean trenches as well as a sensation of weightlessness at one point on the ride. Another ride, The Dueling Dragons is actually two high speed roller coasters that twist and turn and nearly collide with each other to offer an added thrill to the ride.
Many of the amusement parks in Orlando also offer roller coasters that incorporate a theme. The excitement of “The Mummy” motion pictures is brought to life in Universal Studios’ Revenge of the Mummy. Expedition Everest at Disneylands’ Animal Kingdom features the treacherous terrain of Mt. Everest on their thrilling roller coaster. Disneylands’ Hollywood Studios and Rock and Roll roller coaster plays a soundtrack recorded by Aerosmith while racing around the track. Passengers take a journey in the darkness and outer space on Space Mountain at Disneylands’ Magic Kingdom. Riders are subjected to a sea monster on Kraken in Sea World, believed by many to be one of the best thrill rides in Orlando.
If you exist for those instances of intense out of control dives, twists and turns that happen with riding roller coasters then these exciting places are designed for you. Throughout your holiday in Florida, you will have more options than you can possibly visualize for lodging accommodations, together with 1000s and thousands of hotels, luxurious condos, and dynamic Bluegreen vacation packages. So reserve your vacation experience soon and discover how many roller coasters you and your family might encounter in the magical world of Florida.
