Finding The Right Cricket Set

Many of us can still remember the thrill of receiving our first cricket set. There’s nothing quite like heading out into the garden or a local park to have a go at batting and bowling. As one of the most popular sports in the world, cricket continues to retain its popularity and plenty of people are still looking to buy new cricket sets each year.
If you’ve looked at buying a new cricket set recently then you’ll know that there are a lot of possible options. It’s really important for you to find a set that is right for your skill level and is also right for your budget. Ideally, you’ll be looking for something that contains all of the necessary equipment and that’s at a reasonable price. So what are you looking for in a cricket set?
Plenty of people buy sets for kids and it’s really important that you buy equipment that’s the right size. You shouldn’t expect children to play with adult equipment. If you do, they may find it very frustrating. Worse still, there’s a danger that they could injure themselves. A much better alternative is to buy lighter options that will allow them to get into the game without the element of risk.
Adults are most likely to want a full-size cricket set, including a bat, ball and at least one set of stumps, plus bails. You may not be aware that bats come in different weights. Heavier bats may make it easier to play big strokes, but it’s important that you buy one that you’re going to be happy to use. Always try holding it before you buy and make sure that the bat is solid. There’s nothing worse than seeing the handle come away from the main blade.
If you’re very serious about your cricket then you’ll undoubtedly want a set that includes absolutely everything. The bare minimum would be to buy one that includes a bat, ball, stumps and bails. Don’t forget pads too, especially if you’re going to be playing league cricket. Many people forget to buy cricket gloves, but these are obviously vital for protecting your hands and allowing you to play with confidence.
