Are you an adventurous traveler? If you ever plan to visit Las Vegas, consider saving a few dollars by staying in Nevada’s other gem in one of the Reno casino hotels. Just make sure you are properly prepared. The most enjoyable vacations are the ones we prepare properly for. So we should spend the required amount of time thinking about our trip before we head out. There are many things that a person can do to prepare himself and family for trips. By preparing properly in advance, you are setting yourself up for a great getaway. You will be reducing the possibility of any unwanted misfortunes that could pop up when on your journey.
How well the trip goes will be largely dependent on your level of preparation and planning made prior to departing. I suggest you spend the necessary time before hand to make sure your excursion will be as problem free as you can possibly make it. There are many lousy things that can occur if you fail to organize yourself. One simple thing you can do is to make yourself a checklist of all the items you should be taking.
The first thing one must do is the research. Learn as much as you reasonably can about the place that you are going to. Research things like weather, the paperwork and documents needed to travel there, any diseases, the cost of common items, customs, festivals, holidays and crime rates. Make sure you find out about any weird laws that might be legal where you live now but against the law there. One law that is acceptable in one place maybe illegal to another place and in the end, instead of having a fun vacation you will see yourself paying for bail or being in jail whining. Make sure that you know how to contact the police in case that you find yourself in a bad situation.
Try to learn some common phrases and wear clothes that the locals wear. It would be nice to learn a few every day use words plus just a few phrases to get you by. Dressing like the locals should help prevent you from being picked out very easily by any petty criminals. Along the same lines don’t carry a lot of money and valuables or wear too much jewelry.
Find out about what electricity level standard that the country is using. For instance, in places like the Philippines, the country uses 220 volts while in the USA they use 110 volt. Do this to make sure that you don’t fry or permanently ruin your electronics. If you need to, make sure you buy an adapter ahead of time for the voltage adjustment. You also need to know if they use a 60hz or 50hz frequency. Most places in Europe use 50hz. That also requires a special adapter.
Traveling with group tours is okay for the safety in numbers. Also, you don’t have to worry about getting around. But there are also downsides of traveling in a cluster. Tour groups are bussed to numerous locations on a rigid itinerary meaning less sightseeing and maybe less personal enjoyment. If you want to know the history of place that you will be going then hire a personal tour guide. A personal or private tour guide will give you more flexibility according to your schedule so you can spend more time where you want to.
When making your final checklist don’t forget to include a passport, tickets, credit cards and prescriptions or medications. Try not to forget about something that could cause you major delays at a customs counter. Don’t forget to take something to occupy your time if you are to be taking a long plane flight. Magazines and MP3 players work well.
