Lodging Options For Adventure Travel
December 4th, 2008 by Ken Morris, under Vacations. No Comments
Those that decide to embark on adventure travel will find that there is much to do prior to taking on this vacation including planning for everything from the climate to the lodging they will use. This type of travel is wonderful and offers many benefits, but you do have to plan for it ahead of time. Make sure that you have the things that you need to fully experience your trip as well as what you need to protect you along the way. Do you know what you need to take with you on your next adventure?
Planning Your Trip
Perhaps the worst thing you can do for this type of trip is to not plan correctly for it. If you do not have the right legal documents, for example, after you have flown halfway around the world, what will you do? Or, if you plan on going someplace where you will need specialized clothing or equipment and do not have it, what will happen then? These things will cost you monetarily but also provide you with unneeded aggravation. Be prepared for your trip!
What You’ll Need
First, be sure that you have all necessary documents that you need to prove who you are. This is likely to include things like your passport and a visa for the location if you are required to have one. Have these easily available to prove your identity when leaving for your trip. Do not make the mistake of arriving at the airport and then finding out that your visa has expired or that your passport is no longer valid. Do not forget these items either. You should talk to the operator or tour guide that will be sponsoring your travel adventure so that you know exactly what is needed for you to travel.
The next thing to consider is having appropriate health insurance. You likely need to think about having coverage that will work in the location that you are in and that it provides you with accurate coverage. Your insurance carrier will help you to know if you need anything additional to cover injuries or problems that happen overseas. Be sure that you have available credit cards as well as credit cards that are not expiring. You will need to be sure that you have room on those cards to make expensive charges if needed. Organize all your finances too.
Be sure that you talk with the people that you are planning your adventure traveling with so that you know everything that you need including a map. Ask those questions so that you have all details that are necessary. Having this information is important because it will allow you to have the best possible time when you are traveling. Take the time to prepare to travel especially when it comes to adventure travel so that you are ready to go.
How to Book a Hotel
December 4th, 2008 by Lauren Thompson, under Travel and Leisure. No Comments
Planning a vacation is fun, but it also can be a lot of work. Most places that you will want to vacation to will require some kind of hotel stay, and booking one can be a chore. You want to make sure you will be as comfortable as possible when you are away from home. Research is the key to finding a great hotel room to book.
1. Decide where your destination is going to be. Sit down with the whole group your are traveling with and plan where you want to go, as well as what you want to see. There are many things that the whole group will want to go and see, and you will want to make a list of the priorities so that you can book a hotel that is close and convenient for your vacation plans.
2. Research your destination. If you look on the Internet you can find tons of reviews of destinations, hotels and even attractions. From here you can make an informed decision of what hotel you want to stay in. Most reviews found over the internet will show pricing as well, which can be an important factor of where you decide to stay.
3. Call the hotel to ask questions. Look at your priority sheet and figure out what things the hotel needs to have for you to stay in. Maybe it is important for you that the hotel has a pool, or even a continental breakfast. Whatever the amenity is, you will want to make sure the hotel has what you want at the price you are looking for.
4. Research the Internet and travel agencies for the best deals. Everywhere you look and call will have a different rate on the same hotel room. Depending on the amount of time you have to look around, you can find a great deal on a hotel. Some places offer last minute deals, and some will offer you a deal just to book with them. Make a list of the rates you were quoted and the people or websites you found the information at so that you can reference it later when it comes time to book.
5. Book your hotel. Once you have found the perfect hotel that is convenient for you and has all the amenities you were looking for, it is time to book. Go back to the place that you had found the best deal and book the room. Rates change frequently so if you find a good deal, you will want to book right away before the discounted price changes. It may go lower, but more than likely it will go higher than you were originally quoted.
Five Reasons to Book a Fitness Resort Vacation
December 4th, 2008 by Ada Denis, under Travel and Leisure. No Comments
Fitness travel is an emerging new trend when it comes to vacations. There was a time when the words “fitness” and “travel” do not seem to fit in the same sentence. That is because we had this general connotation that traveling entails gaining weight since the most common things we do during vacations are to relax and to eat.
These days, however, we are given the option to explore the world while working on the pounds that we wish to lose. Whether it is on a fitness cruise or any other fitness tour, many people are choosing this kind of vacation to, not only bring home priceless extraordinary travel experiences, but also to bring home a priceless healthier and stronger new you.
Seated in locations far away from the urban areas, fitness spa resorts detach their visitors from the stress that they have to deal with from the everyday responsibilities and problems. That alone appeals to a lot of people who are looking for a relaxing vacation. If that is not reason enough, here are five more reasons why you should choose a fitness resort on your next vacation:
1. Destinations. Fitness vacations provide everyone with the best venues for the programs that the different fitness tours prepare. France, Spain, Italy, Wyoming, Costa Rica, the Caribbean - what more can you ask for? The fitness resorts are committed to bringing visitors like you to fun, exciting and unique travel destinations, and providing you with the comfort, peace and accommodating service that you truly need and deserve. The tour programs take you to remote destinations that have a calming and tranquil environment. Or, you can opt for a more energetic and lively tour through ancient metropolises. The choice is yours. Wherever you choose to go, you are guaranteed to love the place.
2. Programs. The programs that fitness vacations facilitate are very comprehensive. A month prior to your week-long fitness tour or cruise, a health coach or fitness personnel will contact you for physical assessment. This is to find out the kinds of activities that you will be able to physically endure during your vacation. During this time, the health coach gives you a personalized and structured program that you can work on alone at home. The idea is to get you physically prepared for your tour as well as to help you to achieve the maximum results during your tour. The fitness program does not end as soon as the tour ends. In fact, nutritional and physical counseling by the health coaching staff is conducted until a month after your tour.
3. Support Group. Naturally, individuals seek the company of those they can most relate to when undergoing challenging and life-changing events in their lives. Fitness spa resorts serves as a venue where people with the same interest in active traveling or goal of losing weight meet and act as inspiration and motivation for each other. There are certain studies that prove that the gathering of participants in groups delivers better positive results. It is always good and fun to meet new people. With the same company you get to keep during your one week of fitness touring, you might even gain personal or professional relationships that will blossom into something very significant in the future.
4. Food. What you eat is truly essential in every travel experience. No matter where you go, no vacation is complete without the taste of your travel destination’s local cuisine. It has always been thought that you have to avoid food in order to lose weight. In fact, fitness vacations serve delectable, mouthwatering dishes for you to succumb into. Bear in mind that food is not only an essential factor of any travel experience. It is also an important factor of having a healthy lifestyle. With a staff of nutritionists to prepare menus, fitness resorts serve their guests with delicious well-balanced meals in appropriate portions. The essence is to keep you sustained for the physical challenges that the tour has prepared for you, and also to help you detoxify and rejuvenate.
5. Health. Who is there to argue that there is no better reason to head off to a fitness resort for your health? With all the travel experiences, great food and friends that any fitness tour offers, none could ever top the health benefits that you are guaranteed to have. The old adage “Health is Wealth” remains true to this day. There is no better way to live your life than living it with a healthy mind and body.
Traveling has always been a rewarding experience. Traveling while gaining health, however, is even more rewarding. In fact, the rewards of fitness traveling are endless!
Review of Visitor Medical Insurance
December 4th, 2008 by Ray Sondeo, under Travel and Leisure. No Comments
Travelers often neglect obtaining a visitor insurance policy when travelling abroad. The policies cover necessary medical expenses including hospital care and the cost of filling prescriptions. The cost of coverage in the U.S. can often catch visitors by surprise as it can be very expensive compared to that in other nations. Visitors health insurance offers protection from these costs.
Many benefits are available through visitors medical insurance. Travelers do not usually account for the need of medical attention, and can become financially strained in the event of an emergency. Implementing the use of visitors insurance can provide ease of mind in this important area.
Like other forms of health insurance, visitors health insurance comes in a variety of types, differentiated by cost and coverage. These levels of coverage, and the rates which they entail, vary between companies and their specific coverage options. The basic services, emergency room care, etc., are included in every policy.
Dental injury, hospital room and board and emergency illness are just a few of the areas covered by typical visitor medical insurance. These are basic needs that every visitor should have insurance for. Maybe nothing would go wrong, but if it did, health insurance for visitors can be a life saver.
Additional benefits may be necessary if one is travelling to a less stable area of the world. Coverage for terrorism, for example, can be included in one’s plan. Medical evacuation is another occurrence which may prove to be both unexpected and expensive. Having visitors insurance can truly put one’s mind at ease when traveling abroad.
For those possessed of a truly adventurous spirit, visitors insurance can be obtained that covers sports injuries and even theft, a threat to those who travel in certain nations. Accidental death is also able to be covered. For those with particular needs, visitors insurance is highly flexible.
Even nations which are familiar to the traveler can throw unexpected dangers in their paths. Insurance for visitors mitigates the effects of such events. Purchasing policies for visiting relatives has become popular, as well.
No one enjoys pondering the worst case scenario, but preparation is a priceless task. Having an emergency situation arise without coverage in place is never a good situation in foreign countries. visitor travel insurance protects travelers through coverage for financial and life-saving protection.
Discover the Best 7 Tips on Traveling With Children
December 4th, 2008 by Ada Denis, under Travel and Leisure. No Comments
If you’re planning any type of travel with children, here are the best seven tips on traveling with children I can give you. My boys are 6 & 7 years old, my family lives 250 miles away so I’m offering my advice from experience.
First you’ll need to pack some of their favorite quiet (very important!), small toys, books, blanket, teddy bear, pillow and pajamas. I still keep baby wipes in both pickups; you never know when you’ll need to them. They are so versatile; from wiping hands & faces, to wiping up spills.
Secondly, be sure to pack enough clothes; I always pack two days extra and usually two more pairs of socks & underwear. If your youngling isn’t out of diapers yet, packing is about the same, just make sure you have double the amount of diapers and wipes. Oh, don’t forget a towel to lay the baby on and plastic zip lock baggies to put the soiled diaper in.
The third tip for traveling with children I have for you is to pack nutritious and non-messy snacks. Trail mix, There is something about traveling that makes children think they’re starving! One word of advice; don’t pack those small juice boxes; one squeeze and the juice is all over your child, the floor and their car seat!
Tip four is pack your child(s) medicine; prescription and over-the-counter. I always take children’s Tylenol and Ibuprofen, a small first aid kit, Benadryl, small dosing cup, vapor rub, baby lotion, and a thermometer.
Tip number five for traveling with children is to try and keep their routine fairly normal; when mine still took naps, we would hit the road about an hour before their nap time, they’d nap for a couple hours and when they woke up, I’d stop for coffee and a snack for them, then in another hour, we were at Gramma’s!
Another tip is to keep them entertained; pack some new toys, or better yet some toys they haven’t played with in a while. New books are good or if they’re old enough, story cd’s with a book for them to follow along with.
Finally, the last tip I have for traveling with children is to make it an adventure. When we had 77mph sustained winds and took shelter in the basement, it was an adventure; we got eat out of cans, read books by candlelight, listen to the news via the wind up radio, they had a blast! When we go the ‘all-clear’, they didn’t want to back upstairs!
